At their January 26 meeting the Amador County Board of Supervisors reconsidered a previous provisional decision to place an advisory vote on secession from California on the June 2016 ballot, and decided to take no action. This outcome came after consideration of numerous negative fiscal impacts prepared by county staff, and after Keep It California Chair Cindy Ellsmore urged the Board not to circumvent the initiative process by acting to place the proposal on the ballot. Download her letter to the Board.
A split vote was anticipated, but after an SOJ spokesperson declared that they "did not need" backing from either the Board or the voters the Amador supervisors voted unanimously not to place the measure on the ballot, as had the Lake County Board in December.
